ELA Novel Response: Creating a Coat of Arms – $2.50

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION: Use this creative project as a response to a class or independent novel study. Students will create a coat of arms for a character or group (family, team. etc) by identifying their characteristics, personality traits or values, then completing two pre-project worksheets designed to help them critically create their finished project. A mini-lesson and brief history about Coats of Arms are included, as well as visual examples, a project outline and requirements sheet, 2 pre-project activities to help them plan and create and a 4 point Rubric. Blank templates for the Coat of Arms are also included which can easily be cut up and arranged if the student chooses to create their own layout. Marking is a snap with the rubric. Project can be used mid-unit as a character study option or at the end of a novel study. The project takes approximately 3-4 class periods depending on the level of the student.
