Using the 4 steps of art criticism: description, analysis, interpretation and judgment, students will easily work their way through a series of prompts to learn more about the artwork. Great as an on-going activity to supplement the artroom if projects are completed or are drying, group members are missing or as an emergency substitute teacher activity. It can even be used to assess the student’s own work or the work of their classmates! The download includes two versions of the booklet: one for grades 3 – 6 and one for middle to upper grades. The lower level has large print, fill in bubbles, graphics and simple to answer questions. The upper grade is more text based.
